What is Outreach?

Aspire Outreach Service

Who are we?

The Aspire Outreach team (AOT) is a team of SEMH specialists who provide crucial support to children in primary and secondary schools by implementing tailored interventions. Providing bespoke consultation and support for students in Rotherham schools with an identified Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) need in line with the SEND code of practice. The aim is to build strategies in response to the student’s need with an evidenced intervention plan and potential training to support the school.

What does Outreach do?

We conduct assessments, offer counselling, and facilitate workshops to address social, emotional, and mental health needs. The type of support that is delivered, is driven by the needs of the young person and how this can be delivered calmly and safely to everyone involved. We collaborate closely with educators, families, and external agencies to create holistic support plans and promote positive outcomes for students. Underpinning this with bespoke training for schools to ensure staff are upskilled to continue to provide the correct support for the young people in their mainstream educational setting.

How do we provide the support?

Individual 1.1 sessions can be completed with young people with key focuses shared by the school. Group sessions and workshops can also be delivered if school feel they have a specific cohort that would benefit from a more peer support approach.

Who is involved?

As part of our holistic approach to gaining as much information prior to starting support we aim to gain views from parents/carers, educational setting and any other external agencies that are involved with working with the young person. This will then help provide a wider picture and create a personalised support package that is specific to the young person.

What is our overall aim as a service?

The Aspire SEMH Outreach team aim to provide targeted support to individuals who are struggling with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties and the professionals who are supporting them. Their primary focus is on enabling these individuals to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within mainstream educational settings.
